The Hôpitaux du Léman is a state healthcare provider.
It is important that you (or one of your relatives) present your details to the admission staff at the Admission Department. This is to ensure that we get the accurate information.

Opening hours:

Medical cover:

a. You are admitted for an emergency (ex : accident…)

Please provide us with a valid European Health Insurance Card or a valid certificate replacing EHIC. These documents will entitle you to be treated on the same basis as a resident of France.
Remember that each country’s health system is different and might not include all the things you would expect to get free of charge from your health system. This may mean that you have to pay a patient contribution to the cost of your care. You should have to seek reimbursement for this cost when you are back in your country.

Note: Medical covers** issued by your insurances must be forwarded to the following e-mail address : admissionshdl@ch-hopitauxduleman.fr or by fax to 00 33 450 83 22 65.

b. You have planned to receive care abroad (ex: chemotherapy…)

If you’re thinking about having medical treatment abroad, it is important to understand how it works and the risks involved. If you don’t follow the correct procedures, you may end up being responsible for the full cost of treatment.
For example, your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) does not cover going abroad for medical treatment. The EHIC is for emergency treatment that becomes necessary while you’re abroad.
It is imperative that you present the form S2 to the admission staff before your very first consultation or admission. The S2 is a direct arrangement between your country’s Health System and the Hôpitaux du Léman. Prior approval is required. Without this document the full cost of treatment must be settled before your admission in the Hopitaux du Léman.

The full cost of treatment must be settled before leaving hospital (except if your private insurance issue a medical cover**)

Note: Medical covers** issued by your insurances must be forwarded to the following e-mail address : admissionshdl@ch-hopitauxduleman.fr or by fax to 00 33 450 83 22 65.

Medical expenses :

Tariff dated 1st of June 2018 (v1)

Being discharged from hospital :

Do not forget to leave the hospital with your medical notes and your discharge report. The Admission Department is expecting to meet you before your departure, and will issue all documents necessary for your state insurance.

Important notes:

*The European Economic Area (EEA) is a free trade zone between countries of the European Union (EU), Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein.

**A medical cover has to indicate the exact amount that will be paid to the Hôpitaux du Léman for your stay, including the details of the insurance excess. A request of medical report is not a medical cover.
